Need permission in order to upload a free MP3 file. I'm a member of the VRT and have over 10k edits on enwiki. I have a semi-decent amount of uploads to commons. Thank you for your consideration. ––FormalDude (talk) 23:55, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Can you explain why you tagged File:Retro Vintage Wikipedia Logo Icon.png as own work? --Minorax«¦talk¦» 04:30, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Minorax: It was my own work aside from a vector that I mistakenly thought was public domain. I'm much more careful to only use freely licensed vectors that are permitted for reuse/remix in my work now. ––FormalDude (talk) 01:53, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not done there were some issues with uploads that were later deleted due to lack of permission or so on. Please, contribute to Commons for some additional time, so, we would be able to ensure that you fully understand the licensing rules here. rubin16 (talk) 06:46, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to have the autopatroller right so I can upload MP3s from, which AFAIK are PD-author. (Specifically, I want to upload The Remains of Tom Lehrer, which I've improved the metadata of, and add the recordings to the corresponding lyrics on Wikisource.) I've made about 1600 edits and uploaded around 300 files. Thank you. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talk | contribs) 07:14, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

AutoWikiBrowser access[edit]

Please assign the ability to use it in AWB. I have these rights in the Russian Wikipedia. I need AWB to work in categories. For example, in the Category:20th-century photographs of Russia you need to replace the template {{Countryphotoyear2}} with a more accurate template {{Russiaphotoyear}}. Thank you. Currently I'm working in on transfering files and deleting those which is already tranfered on Commons. Some times these files, and also those which I process via VRTS work, have wrong names (often simply due to use of cyrillic letters on latin names like in File:Tasko Сorporation logo.jpg) and I have to make a rename request, waiting a lot in some cases. I think I have enougth experience on Commons and Wikimedia Projects to do these renames by my self. Please grant me filemover rights. Thank you. Andriy.v (talk) 19:30, 14 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a bit odd I guess but can I request filemover rights on my alt User:Tippopotamus. I use that for AWB edits, to separate it from my non-AWB edits, and my main already has filemover rights. I have noticed a few thousand newspaper images are incorrectly labeled. A bot request may be easier but given the time it would take to review and correct each one (just changing the volume), individual review seems needed. If it is preferred, I can ask for AWB access on this account but I think keeping the edits separate are more in line with policy. Thank you. Ricky81682 (talk) 20:29, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello All. I am here to apply for File Mover rights as I have found this category which have 23000 files to be renamed. I would like to help in this. I know all the Criterions and conversant with the File renaming guidlines what can and cannot be renamed, and have made over 35 requests, in which all but one was successful (maximum from this category only). Thanks, --Contributers2020Talk to me here 11:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please explain what are you talking about @Jeff G.? Contributers2020Talk to me here 11:57, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Note: They have only made 23 rename requests, not 35. --Hulged (talk) 12:15, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose per Jeff, Unfortunately I don't hold much confidence in this user and their ability to rename correctly, I also fear they'd rename files probably not realising they're going against COM:FRNOT. –Davey2010Talk 12:20, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So First you @Davey2010, if you see my renaming requests, all but one was approved, showing I am conversant and practicing the COM:FRNOT. Then @Hulged That was my sheer approximate, I never knew you can filter contribs but I think when I have showed excellence in what I did, it is enough. And @Jeff G., from what I understand, you are talking about the Deletion closure, which have no connection. I hope you all understand. Contributers2020Talk to me here 12:27, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Contributers2020Do you have a link to your requests please?, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 13:13, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Contributers2020, it was just a note to others. I don't have any issues with the numbers. Hulged (talk) 14:42, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Symbol support vote.svg Support - Now that I've seen their filename requests I'm actually happy with their renames - most images they've requested renames of are all mostly of unidentified things. I hold more confidence in them now then I did when I first made my !vote here. Contributers2020 I was also pleased with this file name you chose - I certainly wouldn't of thought of that. We all have to start somewhere and all in all I see no red flags or problems here. –Davey2010Talk 13:59, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pictogram voting comment.svg Comment I can consider granting him Filemover rights as he seems like a dedicated editor and is keen to learn but am not impressed with his user page. On Commons the community needs to trust you.--- FitIndia Talk 15:20, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fitindia Please tell me what should I do which will result into the community trusting me. And also if I get the file moving privilege, I'll swear that until and unless I am not sure the name should be used, I will not change the file name. And my swear is like the diamond, which is near impossible to break. --Contributers2020Talk to me here 15:49, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Symbol oppose vote.svg Oppose I have no confidence in this editor putting the necessary care and attention to detail into any bulk task like this. This has been a long-standing concern shared by a number of editors and it is still a problem with them, see User talk:Contributers2020#Chicago is not in Ecuador Andy Dingley (talk) 17:12, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have made about 8000 Commons edits since 2015 and have been a rollbacker here since 2020, with no issues. I would like to be able to occasionally correct errors in file names, especially names containing inadvertent errors which I have sometimes (thankfully, rarely) created myself. Thank you. WikiPedant (talk) 04:28, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiPedant: Hello, could you mention some of your renaming requests here? I have trouble finding your requests in your edit history. Thanks! Jianhui67 TC 03:18, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jianhui67: I believe I made a handful of requests many years ago, but almost all of my editing consists of uploads of cleaned-up new versions of existing files, so it doesn't come up much. What precipitated this request was an error I made recently. Sometimes, when cleaning up an archival picture or making substantive image changes, I use #Croptool to copy an image and all its info at 100% size and then upload my new version (without actually cropping anything) as a revision of the copied version created with #Croptool. A few days ago, I made a couple 100% copies like this and neglected to remove the parenthetical and inaccurate "(cropped)" which the tool adds to the name. Here are the files:
File:Jacob Cuyp - Abel Tasman, his wife and daughter (cropped) (adjusted).jpg
File:Portrait of Abel Tasman, his wife and daughter (cropped) (adjusted).jpg
Right now, in the interest of accuracy, I just want to remove the "(cropped)" from each of these names.
Another file I recently worked with, whose name needs changing, is this one, where the name is too long and does not describe the image content:
File:The Americana; a universal reference library, comprising the arts and sciences, literature, history, biography, geography, commerce, etc., of the world (1908) (14765349965) (cropped).jpg
This name I will change to the much more descriptive name: William Torrey Harris circa 1908.jpg
That's the sort of thing I want to be able to do. The mistake I made in the "Tasman" pictures bugs me, and I like to clean up after myself without bothering other editors for minor housekeeping matters. Many thanks -- WikiPedant (talk) 07:17, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done Thank you for replying in detail. Jianhui67 TC 07:47, 13 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have contributed around 67.000 edits on Commons since 2012. I often make renaming requests for my files when I spot a mistake or want to clean files to have consistent naming across categories. I hoped for a long time the ability for users to rename their own files would be implemented, but after 10 years I think it's time to finally ask the right to do it :) Thank you. vip (talk) 02:34, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
